I don't get what's so horrible about flag burning that people think there should be an amendment against it - besides election year fodder, I mean. Seriously. I don't get it. It's not like I want to go out and torch a flag; for all its problems, I like the US and I'm grateful to live here. But if someone wants to burn one, who cares? If everyone respected the flag the way they're technically supposed to, nobody would wear a patriotic flag t-shirt on the Fourth of July. Athletes wouldn't wrap themselves in it. It wouldn't appear on thongs. Aren't there more important things for Congress to be discussing? Like, I dunno, Darfur? Congo? Iran? Just to throw a couple of ideas out there.
